Editing Process for First Half of Mr. Split Bananas Commercial

Once all the files I needed were imported through my camera and into my editing software, I began to start editing. I first started by trimming down each part since I filmed continuously in one take. Once I trimmed down each video to the part I wanted, I looked over the video and found that some of the parts weren’t timed correctly. For the close up of the banana being snatched I found that it was filmed to slow and I had to speed it up to fit the pace of the commercial better. I was also over the amount of time I previously set for the first half of the commercial. Before I finalized all editing of the first half the video was 19 seconds long, 4 seconds over the maximum time, I wanted the first half to be. To fix this I cut the beginning and end. The part in the beginning, where I was on my phone, seemed to prolong and I had no problem cutting it down. The ending, where Mr. Split runs out, was also easy to trim; I just cut to where he went out of frame. I cut out a part in the middle where the innocent character and Mr. Split were interacting, I also sped up that part, since my brother who was playing Mr. Split spoke too slow for a fast paced commercial. When I sped up the clip my brother’s voice came out higher in pitch and I thought the squeaky voice brought more comedic qualities to the commercial. I added in two 3d edits: glow ball and sun ray. The glow ball was used to show Mr. Split's entrance; the blob floated in and Mr. Split suddenly appeared. The sun ray was shined upon Mr. Split when he delivered his name to the innocent victim. I used four different sounds in the first half of the commercial: snatching sound, serene bird sound, hero music, and jump scare sound. I first searched for the music on YouTube, copied the link, and converted and downloaded the music on a YouTube converter site. The serene bird sounds were for the beginning of the commercial, to give off a calm tranquil atmosphere, before conflict struck. The jump scare sound appeared in contrast to the serene bird sounds, once the banana stealer popped out behind the tree he was hiding behind (I had the most trouble timing this part). The snatching sound was used during the close up snatching of the banana. The clip also including a whooshing sound, so I decided to add that on to the part when the banana stealer stuffed the banana in his black sack. Obviously, the hero music played once Mr. Split appeared to save the day. I used the instrumental sheet music version of the song Hero of our Time by Natewantstobattle. I used an alternative editing software to add text in certain places. like when Mr. Split introduces himself.
