My First Attempt at Editing my Music Video
Since I did not finish filming, there was only so much I could do when I began editing. Before, I mainly use the Microsoft Video Editor to edit all my videos, but since this is music video, I figured I would need to find an alternative. The Microsoft Video Editor does not include many common features that could be found in a music video like transitions, zooms, and certain filters. Before editing anything, I searched for music video editors online and finally found one I was satisfied. However, the app was not available on my computer and could only be downloaded on my phone. I’ve never used my phone to edit any of my previous videos before, so this will be a new experience. I’m using the Microsoft Video Editor to trim, and properly order the individual recordings on my camera. When filming I tackled the easiest scenes first, so I wasn’t able to put everything in the proper order of the storyboard due to the lack of footage for certain parts. I firs imported the recordings I took of the beach, and the recordings of storyboard boxes 3-4 and 8. I trimmed the parts that needed to be trimmed, but I’ll eventually need to go back in and trim more. The footage I already have reaches a minute, even though I still have other parts to put in. I downloaded the song (tyl by Kakie) through YouTube and converted it in a YouTube converter. I used Wavepad audio editor to edit the music. I cut the music down to 60 seconds and faded out the end. Luckily at one minute the song is at the end of the first chorus so I had no problems fitting in a fade. I wanted to portray the effect of going back in time in the video as a way to show a past filled with happiness and the present as only bleak and sad. I used a clock traveling backwards to represent that shift. All the happy events from the past (with both parties) had a black and white filter placed over it. Since some parts were really long, I sped them up because I didn’t want to cut out parts that I thought were significant to the video. In the song there is a part that mentions the moon, so I secured a nice picture of the moon and when I edit later, I will edit Kevin over the moon in hamster ball. My first attempt at editing was not as productive as I wanted it to be, so I will have a lot to edit leading up to the due date.
