Genre Research: What Happens in Vegas


What elements of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?

Like the first two movies, the element this movie has that I would include in my film is the clash of personalities. While at first, they seemed to hit it off their personalities later came in and an obstacle was established. Throughout the movie they used their differences in personalities against each other as they were stuck in a situation that forced them to cohabitate. Like usual they eventually grew to embrace each other’s personalities. There was also a heartbroken state that one of the characters were in. I plan to include that in my film. One of my characters will be recovering from a breakup.

What elements of the genre did the movie have that you like?

The comedic aspect of the film highly appealed to me. There was a wide variety of comedy used. At some points there was a more mature use of slapstick humor. I also liked that the story started backwards. In most romantic comedy’s marriage is the optimistic ending but in this movie the couple was married before developing feelings for each other.

What elements of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you?

Once again, the intrusive best friends played a part in delaying the relationship. The eccentric best friends pit the main characters against each other. Rather than being relatable, they were used more towards the comedic aspect of the movie and didn’t serve as a link between the audience and the movie.

                                                   In general, music videos contain multiple components that deliver the lyrics of the song through a visual outlook. Common conventions in a music video are long shots, close ups, and mid shots. Close ups are most common out of the three, as it is the clearest way to deliver the emotions of a character in a music video as well as to help the audience understand the plot of the video better. Since this is a music video there will be a lack of dialogue and therefore a lack of context, which will have to be made up for through the facial expressions and actions of those in the video which can be best captured through close ups. Filming Mr. Split Commercial: My Brother Steals the Show and my Pocket Money

  Today (October 29, 2020) I decided to film the first 3 scenes of my commercial (storyboard boxes 1 through 3). After much begging, and a unreasonable payment, I finally got my brother to join me in filming and to play a few characters. I bribed him into being the banana stealer and Mr. Split, but once the later scenes like the fighting scene occurs, my youngest brother will remain as Mr. Split while my oldest brother will take over the role of banana stealer. Since the scenes were simple, I did not encounter many problems, but there were a few problems with the props. Since I had free time and my brother was in a good mood, I wanted to get the filming done today, but by the time I chose to film the bananas began to rot. It's not as noticeable in the video but I was still disappointed about it. Planning for my Music Video

                                         Since the song I chose falls into the romance category for music, I will be using two individuals to display a struggling love. I plan to use my dog Faye and my cousin’s hamster Kevin. The song I chose is called tyl by Kakie. The song discusses struggling young lovers, with one party filled with hope to make the relationship work but faced with the constant disappointment provided by the other party. She describes a hope for easy young love is while simultaneously facing the reality that it is not possible, at least not anymore.     Location Due to limited locations caused by our current situation, I only plan to film in a few places. I will film in neutral areas of my house (in front of a wall/couch), at the beach, and there'll be a few shots outside (sidewalk or grassy area). I will have a space set up that will be covered ...
