My Pitch

Pitch #1- In this romantic comedy, an unusual love sparks between a heartbroken man with a traumatic past involving unfortunate encounters with multiple animals, and an animal lover surrounded with her lovely pets.

Pitch #2- In this thriller film, you will follow the journey of a young girl fighting to get out of danger and safely return the loving arms of the last of her family.

I chose to stay away from the science fiction and supernatural themed films since they would be harder to portray. Action, adventure, and romance seemed like the best choice for a student film on a budget. The inspiration for the first pitch came from my brother who is currently in a relationship. After unfortunately seeing the couple display affection towards each other I was inspired to do a romantic comedy using them both as my actors. For comedic effect, I decided to feature my dog in the film as well. I wanted to show the irony of a grown man having a fear of what an average person would see as a cute tiny puppy. I’ve always used my dog in my videos throughout the year and felt it would be best to keep the tradition going. I am fortunate enough to live with multiple animals and felt it would be best to utilize all resources since we’ve all been so restricted in the past year. A romantic comedy is something that fits my situation and personality best and it won’t be a challenge for me to portray in a film. There was no particular inspiration for pitch # 2 other than my experience in viewing other films. A thriller is something easily understandable, as it has keys and components that allow the audience to pick up on the situation displayed. The film would be a representation of individualism and strength and would also bring awareness to the issues we face in modern day. Women are typically depicted as damsel in distress in thriller themed films, so going against that my film would show a girl saving herself and not being dependent on someone else. While both ideas have pros and cons to each, pitch #1 carries more advantages. Pitch 1 is more workable with my environment. My neighborhood is something that would be displayed in a bright film and wouldn’t be best to represent suspense. A big part of the thriller would also be actors and their facial expressions, as there is less dialogue and more contextualized situations. The audience can learn a lot form the sounds and facial expressions of the actors in thrillers and unfortunately, I don’t know anyone who can control their face in a detailed way that tells the story. For my final project I plan to portray a romantic comedy, where an unusual love sparks between a heartbroken man with a traumatic past involving an unfortunate encounter with multiple animals and an animal lover who adores her pets like her very own children.
