Title Research: Art of the Title Website


On this website I mainly focused on the opening title sequences of the genre I will be doing for my film. I wanted to research common ways to introduce titles in romantic comedy films.  I first typed “romantic comedy” into the search bar and sadly did not see a lot of results but there were some that were helpful. I also looked up a list of romantic comedies on a different website and chose films to search in the Art of the Title website. After watching a few opening sequences on the website, I found that romantic comedies tend to introduce the titles  in a happy upbeat way. It's typically done while another scene is playing simultaneously, or after an opening scene. The titles of different people would jump in out. This could be done by blending in the names in a scene like a name on a sign. Other ways would be the names just appearing on screen, with a background or in front of a opening scene taking place. There is also the option of  the title sequence branching off from the story into some type of animation or unrelated scene. Happy upbeat music is played as the producer’s name, actors, and other titles are shown. The title sequence takes more of the comedic role and is introduced in a way that would be done in a comedy film. I viewed the title sequence of a film with the genre of Sci-fi and Fantasy and I noticed that the tile was introduced in an animated kind of way but there were no comedic elements. It was serious animation and the music played along with it was more mature and deep.

                                                   In general, music videos contain multiple components that deliver the lyrics of the song through a visual outlook. Common conventions in a music video are long shots, close ups, and mid shots. Close ups are most common out of the three, as it is the clearest way to deliver the emotions of a character in a music video as well as to help the audience understand the plot of the video better. Since this is a music video there will be a lack of dialogue and therefore a lack of context, which will have to be made up for through the facial expressions and actions of those in the video which can be best captured through close ups. Planning for my Music Video

                                         Since the song I chose falls into the romance category for music, I will be using two individuals to display a struggling love. I plan to use my dog Faye and my cousin’s hamster Kevin. The song I chose is called tyl by Kakie. The song discusses struggling young lovers, with one party filled with hope to make the relationship work but faced with the constant disappointment provided by the other party. She describes a hope for easy young love is while simultaneously facing the reality that it is not possible, at least not anymore.     Location Due to limited locations caused by our current situation, I only plan to film in a few places. I will film in neutral areas of my house (in front of a wall/couch), at the beach, and there'll be a few shots outside (sidewalk or grassy area). I will have a space set up that will be covered ...

Planning Storyboard for my Mr. Split Bananas commercial

Scene 1- For the 1st scene I wanted to establish a common scenario of an everyday person. I will shoot a person in regular clothes sitting on a couch occupied with their phone, before craving a snack and reaching for a banana from the bowl set on the table in front of them. I utilized the Filming Technique of Alfred Hitchcock; Information to create suspense. The audience was aware of the Banana stealer lurking in the back, but the character was not. These scenes established suspense to lead up to the conflict in the next scene.   Scene 2- Scene 2 is where the conflict begins. The banana stealer jumps out of hiding and steals the banana before running out of the house.   Scene 3- The character will be in distress over the crime that occurred in her living room. Pleading for help Mr. Split hears her cries and appears to her rescue.
