Title Research: Watch the Titles Website

 


Through this website I investigated romance and comedy individually. I wanted to see what aspects were similar to the combination of romance and comedy and see if there were any elements that I could possibly add to my opening sequence. I found that, when regarding the title sequence, comedy completely overpowers romance. The title sequence for romance films is very elegant and don’t last as long as the title sequence of comedy films. They’re relaxed, simple and serious; serene images like the woods or a lake is shown. Comedies, just as in romantic comedies, have a title sequence with funny animations or scenes. Entertaining upbeat music is played, and bright colors and scenes are shown. When viewing other title sequences, I noticed that romance and horror have similar openings due to the calm atmosphere portrayed, however horror may be a little more suspenseful. Comedy has a lot in common with action and adventure themed movies, but it tends to carry more humor. If I were to utilize any aspects of the title sequence from romance or comedy, it would most definitely be comedy. Comedy makes up a larger part of romantic comedy films.

                                                   In general, music videos contain multiple components that deliver the lyrics of the song through a visual outlook. Common conventions in a music video are long shots, close ups, and mid shots. Close ups are most common out of the three, as it is the clearest way to deliver the emotions of a character in a music video as well as to help the audience understand the plot of the video better. Since this is a music video there will be a lack of dialogue and therefore a lack of context, which will have to be made up for through the facial expressions and actions of those in the video which can be best captured through close ups. Filming Mr. Split Commercial: My Brother Steals the Show and my Pocket Money

  Today (October 29, 2020) I decided to film the first 3 scenes of my commercial (storyboard boxes 1 through 3). After much begging, and a unreasonable payment, I finally got my brother to join me in filming and to play a few characters. I bribed him into being the banana stealer and Mr. Split, but once the later scenes like the fighting scene occurs, my youngest brother will remain as Mr. Split while my oldest brother will take over the role of banana stealer. Since the scenes were simple, I did not encounter many problems, but there were a few problems with the props. Since I had free time and my brother was in a good mood, I wanted to get the filming done today, but by the time I chose to film the bananas began to rot. It's not as noticeable in the video but I was still disappointed about it. Planning for my Music Video

                                         Since the song I chose falls into the romance category for music, I will be using two individuals to display a struggling love. I plan to use my dog Faye and my cousin’s hamster Kevin. The song I chose is called tyl by Kakie. The song discusses struggling young lovers, with one party filled with hope to make the relationship work but faced with the constant disappointment provided by the other party. She describes a hope for easy young love is while simultaneously facing the reality that it is not possible, at least not anymore.     Location Due to limited locations caused by our current situation, I only plan to film in a few places.
