Editing Over Schedule and Over Time

Though I planned for editing to be finished by this week, the deadline had to be pushed back. While editing I found that my film ran over the allotted time. To fit everything, I wanted in the film I had to do a lot of cutting and reediting. For the scenes where I showed multiple angles, a lot of the clips had to be deleted. For certain scenes I would show multiple angles, but a good number had to be deleted since they took up valuable time. The plot of the film would be just as understandable without the multiple angles, but the different views played towards the technical skill of my film. While some scenes had to be deleted, others had to be trimmed slightly. To get rid of wasted time in the film I would trim the beginning and end of certain scenes where the main male lead spends too much time doing one specific action. When there was wasted time in the middle of a clip, I would split it into two and trim the beginning of the clip with the extra time. For scenes that could not have deleted parts the best solution I could find was to speed it up. The normal speed was set at 1x and the highest speed I placed on a clip was 1.5x. If went any higher than 1.5x then the scenes would look unnatural. The only scene I will consider speeding up to an unnatural and comedic way is the running scene where the main male lead is running away from the dog. For this scene I will add an additional comedic audio. There was one scene that I slowed to show he main male lead capturing the main female leads beauty. It was an important scene that I did not want to slow down so I had to trim a little off that clip. I was able to get the clip down to 8 seconds. Since I sped up and deleted some of the clips, I had to adjust the way the titles would appear on the screen. This was not a big struggle since despite deleting a few clips there were still plenty other clips that could properly display titles. The main title introduction was also one clip that had to be cut. In most films there is a brief but reasonable time spent on the main title. Mine was shortened to a brief time but I made sure it was able to be read easily without changing too fast.
